African Art in Human Form
Model : Fatu Sesay

Designer : me( Lucy Idriss )
So you guys I am super excited to debut my first full set to you guys because I actually worked really hard on this and to be bringing it to life is just amazing. So I did the bralette style before but in a different design. This look was really inspired over the summer through my binge watching of the get down and my obsession of bralette shopping. So I wanted to combine the two and also mix it in with my culture. So i thought, why not have an african print bralette instead of the regular design and also place a 70s bell bottom pants along with it as a matching piece .And this is my creation. Get ready and welcome to SS//18 " African Art in human Form ".

Baby doll
Model : Lucia Idriss
Photographer: Mariyatta Idriss Suede floral Jacket: Thrifted Black pencil skirt : H&M Black low heel shoes: Thrifted Looking like a little girl that ready to hit the city, but in reality this is just one of those nights I dress up just to look cute. I titled this baby doll because I feel as if I look like a cute little statuette of a baby doll. What really inspired this look was I just being a sexy seductress. Sweet looking , sexy feeling. So this is also my little sister's jacket that I took from her and I stole my cousins heels just because I really did love them. Like just look at those babies, cute enough to go still look put together and comfortable enough to go around in. And I feel as though everyone should own a black pencil skirt, it's simple and goes with everything. |

Photographer : Mariyatta Idriss Nike Reflector jacket : Thrifted Snowboard goggles : eBay Thigh high denim boots : Romwe This I have got to say is probably one of my favorite looks because i do love oversized clothing, and the ski mask topping it off just did it for me. I actually had this look in mind for a while now but at the time it wasn't cold enough or did I have all the materials to actually pull it off. But now that I did I really do love it. |
African events are more my Style
Model: Lucia Idriss
Photgrapher: Mariyatta Idriss Jean acid washed Choker: selfmade ( 90sAfrixa ) African mixed print shirt : Africa High waisted dress pants : Thrifted This is probably one of my fave looks of 2016 it defineatly shows my style with a clash of high class. I really love the shirt even more because of the slit in the arms, it was very freeing and beautiful and I know I can wear it in multiple ways which I love. I chose this painting because I felt as if it really was similar to the shirt that I was wearing and the vibrant colors really intriuged me and I loved that. |

But we really wanted to bring our own style to the shoot as well, while still rocking mine of course. So what inspired these jeans? Well I have two kinds of style, urban and urban high fashion, these jeans are urban and because over the summer patch work was very popular I thought, hey why not do my own and incorporate my culture along with it. But This os only the beginning along with the chokers, Keep an eye out as the year goes by! |

Photographer: Obasi Adams Velvet sweater: Thrifted Black patched Bomber Jacket: Ross Distressed mom jeans : Thifted ( distressed by me) African Printed head wrap : Fabric store Basic wheat Timberland boots So I honestly LOVE velvet, it is my favorite and recently I have been stocking up so I'm starting off my sweater season with a favorite find. Originally I wasn't going to wear the headwrap because I didn't think it was going to flow properly but it did. So I chose to use that sculpture because I actually really loved the ruged edges all around the scupture because I feel as if it really correlates with my background but the structure is the center piece, such as I am the center piece of this background. I also chose this sculture because of the dim lighting that made the scuplture and myself glow so radiantly. |
Can I get a retake?I Model: Lucia Idriss
Photographer: Mariyatta Idriss Plain Bape baseball sweater Black leggings : Walmart Kylie Jenner Pumas What really inspired this look was that not only was it picture day but I was also trying to look good for a special someone on campus. He caught my drift which left me satisfied but what truly got me motivated was that I wanted stand out a little more than normally and switch up the look. What led me to choose this sculpture was the delicacy and intricacy in the class and how it was put together to look so beautiful. I relate that intricacy in the debate I was having mentally that same boring about how I wanted it to be worn, and in the end it was a beautiful outcome just like the sulpture. |

So as crunch time is closing in on me and it's getting time to wait for letters and emails stating that I've gotten in or not, I haven't been that focused on my look, only because I now spend about majority of my time writing essays instead of blog post. But all in all with me just grabbing anything and going, I just so happened to pick out a cute look at just seemed to work for me on that day, I chose this piece of art because I felt as if the color scheme was very similar to my outfit.

Lucia v. LuceLucia v. Luce is directed back to my style over the years, starting from my seventh grade style leading up to my sophomore year. I've noticed a difference in the way I dressed in my junior and senior years of high school that I plan on continuing throughout my continuing years through college. I started with Lucia because majority of my friends would call me by my first name around this time in my life. And Luce, well people tend to call me more by my nick name now more than my first name. This is the transition from Lucia to Luce.

So it was Temple's homecoming weekend and I was ready to turn up and have fun with my girls but plans got cancelled because of miscommunication and I refuse for good outfits to go to waste but aside from that what inspired the look was we all planned to wear black and I love having to put something dark and sexy together to really grab someones attention. I chose this image along with it because along with my mood for that night I was feeling very mysterious and a little out of this world. |

Scarf: One of my mom's old african Costumes
Loose fitted top: Mandee
Jean Shorts: Thrifted

What really made me put together this out was it was the day before afropunk and I was already looking to put together new kinds of outfits to switch up my look a little but also have something in there that would always remind someone that this is a " Luce Style ". So I was really in love with it once I put it together. What inspired me to choose that painting was the name " Cowboys in the bad Lands" and it really struck me because I did have on a country girl attire.

Afropunk for the first time
You ever go to place and feel right at home? Well thats pretty much how I felt going to Afropunk Fest 2016. I’ve never had the honor to be around so many creatives who were different from me but at the same time just like me. Afropunk was the place where you could either keep it classic, or bare it all, it was a place where your creativity was honored in the brightest spotlight. From your fashion, to your music. Young and Old. I was a bit skeptical at first because my day started off so horribly, from having to do my hair all over again to missing two busses. I was traveling alone so that also put some pressure on hoping that I wouldn't get lost trying to find my way to the park but, on the bus on my way there I was comforted by a younger girl that was also traveling by herself, which made me feel like I wasn’t in that situation all by myself. I eventually found myself to park with the help and guidance of the New Yorkers whom were also on their way to the festival ( my only hope was that they didn’t see me as a tourist ). When I had first arrived I was nervous because I was supposed to meet a friend and I had no clue as to where to go but I found my way to her booth, and just from watching and looking at my surroundings I was comforted instantly, especially by the energy and vibe that just felt so welcoming and free. I dropped my bag and danced my way into the crowd and next to the DJ booth because the music was just amazing. And while I was dancing I came to a conclusion that I found my happy place, and I didn’t need anyone taking me there. I roamed around for a while still trying to see what else Afropunk had to offer and I was pleased with everything that I saw. From the people hanging out on the swingset to some just taking a seat and eating the food they got off of food trucks and others who would stand in the crowds singing along to the art performing or bobbing their heads to DJ’s amazing beats. It was a great day to be cultured. I wasn’t able to get the interviews I planned on getting because I was so intuned with my surroundings but I did manage to get pictures of amazing people and just some of the things I saw. At the end of the day I managed to find my way to THE INTERNET concert and I also caught Janelle Monáe mid set. I couldn’t see them all too well because of my height, but I got a great standing place where I could at least see their faces and It looked good on camera. I met some new friends in the crowd, one of which was also from out of state. Afropunk was a total success and definitely something I would do more often. Photographer: Fatima Daboh Grey and Leather sweatshirt Black plain skater skirt: Thrifted Thigh High black socks: eBay Premium Waterproof Timberland Boots I wanted to do something a little out of my comfort zone and go with some dark colors, but my smile seems to be the ember that is lighting up my whole outfit which to me is really cool because just like in the painting, it starts off dark then the light just comes through and takes over the entire painting. My bright spirit took over to make this outfit shine. 8/5/16 Glow Baby🌞Model: Lucia Idriss

This is a classic look for me, I'm all about simplicity; sometimes it’s nice to be over the top, but I'm more of a "cool it down" kind of girl. Keeping it classy with a spin of some vintage is always a go-to outfit choice for me. 7/22/16 Skate Park Art. 🖼

Glows from the meadows 🌾Model: Lucia Idriss
Photographer: Aliou Gamby Grey Bodycon Jumpsuit Black Floral Kimono Woman's Nike Running Shoes Now I had to start the summer off right with a nice little jumpsuit. So I got all the way comfortable with this outfit, showing off the summer body with some kicks because I knew I was gonna be walking around all day and I had to put on a kimono because I just don’t believe in walking around with a plain jumpsuit on. When I saw this sculpture in the Art museum of Chicago ( which btw you guys should definitely check it out, it’s dope) I had to stop in my tracks to really admire it. The golden definition that flowed between each block reminded me of my hair and it’s goldeness and how the colors were just changing too, and they grey case around each glow reminded me of my jumpsuit and how it hugged my brown glowing skin. 8/12/16 African booty 🌍Model: Lucia Idriss
Photographer: Mustapha Idriss Acana Shirt : Africa Bandage pencil skirt: eBay lace up gladiator sandals: Mandee yellow shades: eBay I wore this two ways, I didn't manage to get a photo of the second outfit but it was definitely a great street wear look. This was my Sunday candy, I didn't want to do something over the top just something flavorsome, that made me stand out but also while being respectful in the House of the Lord. 7/15/16 Lost in Translation 🌔Model: Lucia Idriss

My clothing line will tell the story of the migration from Africa to Europe and America, so it will incorporate styles from the 90s and 2000s but in African Fashion. I've learned that from the queen herself Vanessa Hudgens, that the style doesn't die so easily. This was actually an unplanned look, I was honestly just looking through my drawer and matched what seemed to fit nicely together. The color scheme was just nice coincidence. 7/8/16 []🏂Model: Troy Taylor
Photographer: Alexis Ngo Clothing Tee shirt: Thrifted Jeans: Thrifted Suede canvas old skool true white vans Troy, 17, is an artist of many different art. I chose to also give Troy a skateboarding themed look because as shown he’s also a skateboarder, and rapper. Troy is a very open guy, he is always down to do new things and that is what I wanted to represent when styling him, I wanted to show his carefree side, the side that makes Troy the great guy he is. Meet Troy! 6/24/16 Sunday Candy🍬Model: Lucia Idriss Photographer: Mariyatta Idriss Vintage multicolored Windbreaker: Thrifted Plain Bape baseball sweater Black dry wash vintage jeans: Thifted White New Balance Resting face in 3,2,1. It’s a 90s retrospec, from the shaggy updo to the nice white kicks. This is more of an everyday look for me to pull off, especially on my lazy days. I put that painting next to my photo because it showed me a radical side. Energetic, funky, fun, the painting gave me so many vibes and feelings which was also what I was feeling when I was parading around in that outfit. I felt fresh in my windbreaker ( which I got a lot of compliments on ). The painting was refreshing, kinda like being dressed like that. 7/29/16 Retrospec? 👽 |
